Developing your self esteem is a gradual process and not a day job. This article will highlight 12 ways by which you can develop and improve your self esteem. These ways include:
1. Stop bringing yourself down with negative thinking and judgments.
2. Be yourself and stop comparing yourself with others. Be unique and express your uniqueness always.
3. Avoid perfectionism. It paralyzes somebody and doesn’t allow one to accomplish his or her own goals.
4. Surround yourself with positive and supporting people who will encourage you and correct you when you go wrong.
5. Give kudos to yourself by having a record of at least 20 things you did very well on daily basis.
6. Perform tasks for people. When you do things for others, you are making a positive contribution. By so doing, you will become valuable which will in turn lifts your spirits and raises your self esteem.
7. Identify the task or work that inspires you and get involved in it. If you cannot leave your present work situation immediately, devote your leisure to hobbies and activities that you find stimulating and enjoyable.
8. Be honest and truthful to yourself. Avoid being manipulated by anybody. Take decisions that you feel that is right at any point in time.
9. Find solution to problems rather than avoiding and complaining about them. Treat all problems as challenges and opportunities for effective growth.
10. Recognize, respect and take care of your own needs and wants first. These will increase your sense of worth and well being.
11. Live your life on the basis of what is possible for you and what you feel that is right to you and not what you or others feel you “SHOULD” do. Discover what you want and what you are good at and take actions to fulfill your potentials.
12. Do not avoid challenges. Take action as you will not develop self esteem if you are idle and avoid challenges. When you take action, irrespective of the result, you feel great of yourself and even learn in the process.
